Folios 182-183: James Masters, HMS Meteor, Gravesend. Acknowledges letter 7 March 1804 and encloses Protections from John Bagley and James Jones given by Hawker, US Consul, Plymouth [no longer present]. Jupiter’s name is Peter Hopkins, has no indentures or protection, allowed on board by owners to serve four years and get his freedom. Says the Masters account is false. John Frassure admits he’s French, dreaded France, employed by Americans for two years. Left him behind as without instructions.
