Folios: 194-195. Gloucestershire. Indenture of agreement.
First party: Thomas, earl of Lancaster.
Second party: Aymer de Valence, earl of Pembroke.
Place or subject: The earl of Lancaster is bound to hand over to the earl of Pembroke, between this day and Christmas next following at the completion of this indenture, all manner of chattels which William Touchet received from the earl of Pembroke in the manors of Morethon [Moreton Valence] and Whaddon, with issues in the meantime and the damages which William made in those manors from the day when he took seisin until the day of the handing over. A plea is pending by writ of escheat in the king's court between the earl of Hereford and William concerning those manors, and William came into court the next day of the plea and vouched the earl of Pembroke to warrant those manors. [Further details given]. William Tuchet defended an assize of novel disseisin which the abbots of Gloucester and Wynchecombe [Winchcombe] have brought against him concerning a fish-weir in the River Severn called Fremelode, without fraud or deceit at the costs of the earl of Pembroke. And the earl of Lancaster granted that he will deliver and hand over to the earl of Pembroke all manner of chattels, such as vestments, books and all other chattels found in the New Temple. The king has agreed that all the muniments and deeds of covenants, obligations or instruments which Walter de Langetone [Langton], the bishop of Chester, and John Hotot made to the king are to be handed over by the earl of Pembroke to the earl of Lancaster on the day on which William Tuchet is to hand over those manors in the hands of the king. The earl of Lancaster ought to hand over to the earl of Pembroke all the muniments, charters, deeds and indentures touching the manors of Morethon [Moreton Valence] and Whaddone, which William Touchet had from the earl of Pembroke. The earl of Pembroke ought to hand over to the earl of Lancaster all the muniments, charters and indentures touching the manors of Thorpwaterville [Thorpe Waterville], Aldewyncle [Aldwinkle] and Achirche [Achurch], which he had from William Touchet.
