Description

Captured ship: Diergaarden or Garden of Stockholm (master Jacob Jacobsen Kock).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (120 tons) bound from Bordeaux to Stockholm, laden with wine; taken during 1697 by HMS Intelligence (George Cammock commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 9:

  • [CP 1-CP 6]: five sets of claims to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants and sailors in Gothenburg and Stockholm, one in Swedish with a translation;
  • [CP 7]: abstracts and translations of the 17 ship's papers [some of these papers were restored];
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: two dockets for the parcels of ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers in two bundles, numbered SP A4, A9-A12, A 14-A 15, and SP B1-B2, including a ship's pass, bills of lading, invoices and letters.

[Decision: ship restored, cargo part condemned 10 March 1698].
