Description

Captured ship: Anthony (master Peter Roque).

History: a Portuguese or English merchant ship (35–40 tons), bound from Lisbon to London or a port in the Netherlands, laden with salt, oranges, lemons and brandy; taken on 27 August / 5 September 1693, off the Isle of Wight by the privateer Success (Benjamin Stent commanding), and brought into Rye.
