Description

Captured ship: St Antoine of Nieuwpoort (master Renier Oudestadt).

History: a Spanish Netherlands (Flemish) ship, bound from Bordeaux to Bruges, laden with wine and brandy; taken on 5/15 January 1695/6, near Cherbourg by the privateer Monmouth (John Tupper commanding), and brought into Southampton.

  • [CP 4-CP 5]: two dockets for the two bundles of ship's papers.

Ship's papers in two bundles:

  • SP A1-SP A10: ship's pass, bills of lading issued in Weymouth and Bordeaux;
  • SP B1-SP B15: customs papers, ship's passes and receipts issued at Bordeaux.
