Letters from Falmouth say that the Spanish ship Alliance arrived with mail from Corona [Corunna], bringing news from Madrid that the King of Spain will march in person to Saragosa [Zaragoza]. 1500 foot and 500 horse were being raised in Madrid, and more forces in other parts, for the maintenance whereof the Queen offered to pawn her jewels, and the Archbishop of Toledo to take considerable sums out of the treasure of the churches at Madrid. Letters from Plymouth report that his Majesty's ship the Rye and Betty had brought into that port a French privateer of 18 guns and 145 men. The captain of thes privateer reports that Pointy [French admiral Baron de Pointis] had arrived at Brest. The Duke of Ormonde [James FitzJames Butler], the Earls of Essex [Algernon Capell] and Rivers [Richard Savage], Mr [George] Stepney and other gentlemen 'have arrived here' from Flanders.
