Captured ship: Adventure (master unknown).
History: a French merchant ship (English built, 70 tons but very old, six guns), acting as an escort to a convoy of 14 ships, in ballast; taken in fight (having been run aground at Carteret Bay, Normandy and at last abandoned by her crew on 17 September 1689, by the privateer Painter of Guernsey (John Knap commanding), and brought into Guernsey.
