Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar.
Captured ship: Nord Stern (master Mads Gronhoff Samsing).
Nationality: Hamburg.
History: bound from Cadiz to St Thomas or Vera Cruz, laden with linens, silks and woollen cloth, paper, sherry, Sanlucar wine, and brandy; taken on 30 March 1798 by HMS Emerald (Thomas Mowbray Waller commanding) one of the squadron under Earl St Vincent [and perhaps HMS Thalia (Lord Henry Paulet commanding) ], and brought into Gibraltar.
Appellant: Arthur Cramond merchant of London on behalf of Messrs Goverts and Co of Hamburg for the cargo; and a claim for joint capture by the rest of the squadron.
Respondent: The captor and HMPG.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 15 July 1801 (folios 65-76).
Decision: further proof required.
