Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.
Captured ship: Pigou (master John Lewis).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Isle de France [Mauritius] to New York, laden with coffee, sugar, cotton and indigo; taken on 19 June 1794 by HMS Blanche (Robert Faulkner commanding) and HMS Hussar (Rupert George commanding), and brought into Halifax.
Appellant: Samuel Bayard, the American Agent, on behalf of the master for the ship, and of Joseph Fenwick US consul in Bordeaux, and Fenwick, Mason and Co of Georgetown.
Respondent: The captors, and Jacob Lewis.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of May 1800 (folios 56-58).
Decision: ship condemned as lawful prize.
