Description

Captured ship: Le Volontaire of Granville (master Pierre Joseph Regnier or Remer).

History: a French privateer (70 tons, 4 guns, 52 men), bound from Granville on a cruise; taken on 11/22 June 1747 off Cape de la Hague by HMS Otter (William Cust commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 2 ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 2, letter of marque, muster roll.
