Captured ship: Warren (commander John Revell).
History: an American privateer (schooner, 60 tons, 10 guns, 49 men), bound from Salem, Massachusetts on a cruise off the Western Islands [Azores]; taken in fight on 29 December 1777 in latitude 38°N, longitude 49°W by the privateer Tom of Liverpool (Thomas Leigh commanding), who threw overboard all the Warren's guns and ammunition and warlike materials, issued her with a certificate and then allowed her to go, but she was retaken on 8 January 1778 by the privateer Fanny (James Wignell commanding with a commission) and brought into Liverpool.
