Captured ship: Three Friends (master Robert Cook).
History: an American merchant ship (230 tons, 13 men, formerly the Maria bound from St Vincent to London, taken on 1 September 1776 by the American privateer Independence), now bound from Charleston, South Carolina to Bilbao, laden with rice, indigo; taken on 2 July 1777 off Cape Ortegal in latitude 44°40'N by HMS Valiant (John Leveson Gower commanding), and brought into London.
Court papers: 1-25; Ship's papers: 26-50.
