Captured ship: Royal Louis (commander Stephen Decatur).
History: an American privateer (300 tons, 20 guns, 184 men), bound on a cruise; taken on 9 October 1781 off the Capes of Chesapeake Bay about 40 leagues from Cape Henlopen, Delaware by HMS Amphion (John Bazeley commanding), and HMS Nymphe (John Ford commanding), and brought into New York.
