Captured ship: Luck (master Jothan Baker).
History: an American merchant ship (schooner, 30/35 tons, 4 guns, 12 men), bound from Hampton, Virginia to St Thomas, laden with tobacco, shingles, hams; taken on 7 July 1782 in latitude 36°10'N, longitude 65°W by the privateer Surprise (John Hall commanding), and brought into New York.
