Description

British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.

Captured ship: Lovely Sally (master Nathan Vallance).

History: an American merchant ship (brigantine,130 tons), bound from Philadelphia to St Croix, laden with flour and iron; taken on 8 April 1782 off Cape May, Delaware by HMS General Monk (Josias Roger commanding), HMS ="italic"> Quebec (Christopher Mason commanding) and the privateer Fair American (William Nealson commanding), and brought into New York.

Court papers: 1-14; Ship's papers: 15-16. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
