Captured ship: Hoop en de Visser (master Barent Janse Visser).
History: a Dutch (Friesian) merchant ship (galliot, 180 tons, 7 men), bound from Seville to Ostend, laden with sweet and sour oranges; taken on 15 January 1781 about 20 Dutch miles off Oporto in latitude 42°N, by the privateer Friendship of Exeter (William Bell commanding), and brought into Exeter.
Court papers: 1-11; Ship's papers: 12-19. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
