Captured ship: Charming Nancy of Dover (master William Weeks).
Capture history: a British ship (brigantine, 100 tons, 12 men), laden with fish, oil and salt; taken by the American privateer Minerva [of the Rhode Island State Navy] ([John] Grimes commanding) near Newfoundland, but was soon retaken on 16 September 1778 off Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay by HMS Experiment (Sir James Wallace commanding), and brought into New York.
