Captured ship: Aurora (master Robert Goodwill).
History: a Dutch merchant ship belonging to the Middelburgse Commercie Compagnie with a Scottish-born master (300 tons, 36 men), bound from Middlelburg to West Africa (on the triangle trade), laden with trade goods and having 104 slaves on board; taken on 11 or 12 February 1781 off Great Basa [Grand Bassa, Liberia] by the privateer Alert (William Llewellyn commanding), and brought first into Cape Coast Castle where the slaves were sold, then into Baltimore in Ireland, and then into Bristol.
Court papers: 1-28; Ship's papers: 29-62. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
