High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Aurora (master Samuel Gerrish).
Capture history: an American merchant ship with a letter of marque (130 tons, 16 men) bound from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Guadeloupe, laden with fish and lumber; taken on 14 June 1780 in latitude 31°N, longitude 54°W by HMS Cerberus (Robert Man commanding), and brought into Falmouth.
Intended voyage: from the United States to the Caribbean Islands.
Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-
- [CP 1]: attestation as to papers (numbered 1-7) brought in by Robert Man, 5 July 1780;
- [CP 2]: three depositions of Samuel Gerrish, Mark Fernald and George Phipps, and commissioners' affidavit, 6-8 July 1780;
- [CP 3]: allegation, 21 September 1780.
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-7 (New Hampshire papers):-
- SP 1-SP 3: official ship's papers (SP 2 is missing);
- SP 4: privateer commission;
- SP 5: owner's instructions (Jacob Sheafe and Nathaniel Tracy);
- SP 5: crew list and agreement;
- SP 6: log.
