Captured ship: Angel de la Guarda (master Juan Baptista de Ybarra y Arvaza).
History: a Spanish merchant ship (180 tons, 9 men, 1 passenger), bound from Bilbao to Cadiz under convoy, laden with iron, cordage, pitch, tar, nails, leather, tobacco and wine; taken on 8 January 1780 in latitude 48°52'N by HMS Culloden (George Balfour commanding), one of the fleet under Sir George Bridges Rodney, and brought into Falmouth.
Court papers: 1-17; Ship's papers: 18-38. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
