Folios 431-433: David Lloyd, HMS Termagant, the Nore. Wishes to explain his previous conduct at Hull which led to the displeasure of Captain George Brisac. He was entering the River Humber with a convoy from the Baltic when he saw a frigate at anchor in Grimsby Road. As HMS Nonsuch and HMS Redoubt were also in sight, he was unsure who was the senior officer present. He passed within hail of the frigate to receive any orders, did not receive any and continued up river to Hull. He told the officer from HMS Iris who then brought orders from Captain Brisac that he needed water and provisions, but by the time these arrived from another ship he had already sent his water casks ashore. Feels he was justified in seeing to the condition of his own ship before waiting on Captain Brisac. Captain Robert Dudley Oliver was aboard at the time and wrote to Captain Brisac to say it was not possible for the Termagant to join him.
