Folios 427-428: David Lloyd, HMS Termagant, Shields Harbour. Reports he sailed on 9 September to collect the trade from Aberdeen and Leith and anchored in Aberdeen Bay six days later. The Provost and Magistrates asked him to wait there for 24 hours, but he was forced to put to sea by a gale, as the anchorage was not protected. All of the convoy joined him at Leith except for the Ranger of Aberdeen, Thomas Crombie, Master and Robert Smith, Owner. On his second attempt he was able to sail from Leith, but thought it prudent to put in to Shields to avoid being caught on a lee shore. Once he reaches the Nore he will send a full convoy list.
