Folios 351-352: George Hewson, HMS La Fleche [HMS Fleche], Yarmouth Road. States that HMS La Fleche [HMS Fleche] is fourteen men short of complement and requests orders for her crew to be completed from the Flag Ship at this Roadstead. The Old Party of Royal Marines were likewise exchanged 9per Orders) and in lieu he was supplied with new recruits from Woolwich and as the number of sick on board amount to five, the ship must be considered in a very deficient state. He applied to Sir [Henry Edwin] Stanhope requesting he would complete her complement but he referred him to Admiral [John] Wells at the Nore. He has made application to him but no men were to be had so on arriving here to try to make good the deficiency, so that he may as ordered by Sir Richard John Strachan [(6th Baronet of Thornton, Kincardine)].
