Description

Folios 73-74: Graham Eden Hamond, HMS Victorious, Downs. He announces his arrival, from Sir Richard Stachan's Squadron off Flushing. He encloses a copy of his orders and also a report on the condition of his ship (this last not enclosed.)

Folios 75-76: enclosure with folios 73-74. An order dated 21 May 1809 and signed by Sir Richard J Stachan, Rear Admiral of the White and sent to GE Hammond of HMS Victorious. He is ordered to The Downes to replenish his water and provisions and to receive a new Fore Yard. Thereafter, should he receive no other orders from the Admiralty, he is to take on board vegetables and fresh beef for the Squadron, returning as speedily as possible.
