Folios 18-19: George Hewson, HMS La Fleche, Great Nore. He announces his arrival together with a convoy of gunboats from Flushing, in accordance with the orders of Captain Paulet of HMS Quebec. As ordered by Sir Richard Strachan he encloses a statement of HMS La Fleche's condition and defects.
Folio 20: enclosure with folios 18-19. A statement dated 31 December 1809, signed by Captain George Hewson and Mr William Riley, ship's carpenter, describing the defects of HMS La Fleche. These include rotten planks, rotten and waterlogged sections of the ship and advice as to repairs needed.
