Folios 269-271: Thomas Hand, HMS Tartarus, Guernsey Roads. Receipt of commands of 22 [November 1799] which he will execute as soon as possible but he fears that the barracks might not be in a state to receive the troops and so it might be some time before they can be disembarked. Lieutenant Walker of HMS Sparkler, whom he sent out to bring in the transports that did not anchor the night he meant to lead them in, will probably have reported by letter from himself that they arrived at Cowes. This letter was given to him only in the event of their having to bear up. However he is happy to report that the Hibberts, Harmon, Betsey, Eliza and Fortitude Success are all safely arrived.
