Folios 32-33: Anthony Gibbes, Keynsham, Bristol.
Writes about his son Robert Gibbes, a midshipman serving on board HMS Le Chiffon commanded by John Wainwright, and asks for his preferment. He recounts how his son jumped overboard to save a man who had fallen into the sea and was unable to swim. He believes, in addition, that his son is favoured by Sir John Moore who introduced him to the Sicilian court while urging him to quit the Navy. In the Gulf of Persian he served with commendations under Lieutenant Lessly.
Gibbes mention that he is the father of 4 sons who served the country but 2 died in service.
