Folios 46-47: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Concerning the case of George Wardell, a Keelman, impressed on shore at North Shields on 9 November 1809 by Lieutenant Flinn and sent to the Nore on the Lyra tender, his case for not joining the service relies on the enclosed affidavit.
Folio 48: enclosure in folios 46-47. Letter dated 14 November 1809 from Robert Wood, Bishopwearmouth, Durham enclosing affidavits from Charles Wardell and George Atkinson, Surgeon and pleads for his discharge.
Folio 49: enclosure in folios 46-47. Affidavit of Charles Wardell dated 14 November 1809 that he has known George Wardell for many years and he has never been to sea, suffers a buzzing in his head making him unfit for work for several days and through his agent Robert Wood of Bishopwearmouth, applies for discharge.
Folio 50: enclosure in folios 46-47. Affidavit of George Atkinson dated 14 November 1809 that he has attended George Wardell when suffering from a buzzing in his head since 1796 and cofirms he is unfit for service in the Navy.
