Description

Folios 294-295: William Ely Cook, Navy Agent, 4, Hatton Garden. Captain John Clements, when Lieutenant of HMS Cumberland was appointed, by Rear Admiral [John] Macbride to take command of the gun boats stationed at Ostend. He was employed in this service from 13 September to 26 October 1793. Is sending the order and certificate. During this time he was obliged to live on shore and went twice with dispatches to HRH the Duke of York at Menin, at his own expense. Asks for him to be paid the necessary allowance.
