Folio 102: Charles Bateman, HMS Stately. Is sending a report by the Master of the Fair American of four French frigates cruising, latitude given. The Commander in Chief is being informed by dispatch overland to Lisbon.
Folio 103: enclosure with folio 102. Charles Bateman. George Hobson, Master of the Fair American from Baltimore was boarded by the French La Goire Captain Albin Rossin off Brest. Some men aboard belonged to HMS Horatia taken by an American ship from Bordeaux to New York. Description of French ship given.
