Description

Prisoner's name: John Johnson alias Joseph Davis.

Prisoner's age: 16.

Court and date of trial: Old Bailey February Sessions 1829.

Crime: Stealing wearing apparel.

Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation.

Gaoler's report: In custody before.

Annotated: Sailed in the York for New South Wales.

Petitioner: Evan Davis, the prisoner's father and 6 people of the New Kent Road area.

Grounds for clemency: Led astray by two others; good conduct while at Chatham; changed his name to avoid disgrace to his family; parents and two brothers plead for mercy.
