Copy letter from J Seaton, Sheerness yard, reporting on the trial of a severe firing of guns, from the stern of the Gloucester. Inspection afterwards showed the fabric, the solid stools and the housing to quarter galleries, the steward room and Captain's waterclosets to be in perfect condition. The lining to the stools and the port holes were disturbed as were some ornamental mouldings. These were considered of little consequence compared with the certainty that no enemy could have approached the stern with impunity during such firing.
