- Folio 198. Letter from William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board regarding the proceeds of the sale of parish property. The overseers of the poor of Bletchley parish are desirous of receiving an order from the Board to apply £57 11s 3d from the proceeds of the sale of parish houses to emigration purposes. The proportion of the building loan remaining unpaid is £55 8s 0d. Annotated: enquire whether any emigration is now in contemplation. [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Board] 27 September 1848. Order raised 17 April 1846 - eight emigrants to South Australia - no certificate of satisfaction was required. Paper Number: 26685/1848.
