Description
Content
Folios 184-186. Letter from William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board regarding medical arrangements in the union. He forwards copies of minutes of a special meeting on the appointments of Mr Rogers and Mr Maskew. The board did not appoint Mr Maskew's partner. He states that the residence of Mr W Heygate [William Heygate] is as near to the parish as any other medical man. Enclosed is a minute from Newport Pagnell book of minutes 21 June 1848. That William Rogers of Wolverton is the most eligible, nearest and acceptable candidate to be medical officer for Haversham parish. His residence is in the adjoining parish. Also enclosed is a minute from Newport Pagnell book of minutes 21 June 1848. That due to its size the board divided the district allotted to Mr Maskew and advertised for a new medical officer. No one came forward so Mr Maskew in addition to his district has accepted the vacant district. Annotated: if these men satisfy the Board I am content. Robert Weale 5 July 1848. Sanction. 6 July 1848.
