Description
Content
Folio 176. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, regarding the appointments of medical officers. They acknowledge receipt of his letter of 1 June 1848 and sanction the following appointments at the salaries stated: Robert Collison to District 1. Thomas Nicholas Heygate to District 4. George Osborne Rogers to District 5. Nathaniel Godfrey to District 7. Hammond Chalk to District 8. Thomas Parker to District 9. William Wootton to District 10. Robert Collison for the workhouse. They enquire whether the guardians could not appoint a resident medical officer for the second district. They are prepared to sanction the appointment of William Rogers to the third district on the receipt of a special minute under article 169 of the general order of the 24 July 1847 regarding the defect in his qualifications. They object to the double appointment for the sixth district. They suggest that the district should be divided and separate medical officers appointed for each division. Paper Number: 16332/1848.
