Philip Stephens. Lieutenant Mainwaring has asked for expenses, while on imprest duty on the Meredith cutter. They are for entry money for 74 men raised at sea and travelling charges for several journeys to Poole and Chichester to consult Regulating Officers on how to send the pressed men to Spithead when no tender was available. Observe that it is not usual to pay entry money for men pressed at sea and we cannot allow travelling money unless it is requested by the Admiralty.
