Description (What the record is about)
-
William Marsden. William Hornsey has asked to be allowed the pay due the apprentices of the late Mr. Collins of Plymouth. The Order in Council of May 1801 says that such pay should be given to the widow or heir of the Officer, who was responsible for the apprentices. Mr. Collins is the late Master Shipwright's Assistant at Plymouth and was given an enhanced pension, which is considerably more than the amount formerly given to Officers of his station. His claim is disqualified by the order in Council, which says that having been promoted, they or their executors are disqualified from receiving the earnings of their apprentices.
