Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. The Agent of Mr. Read, Purser of the Lenox, who exchanged into the Chatham, informs us that Mr. Read was given leave by Lord Howe to go to Jamaica with Sir Peter Parker as his Secretary. A deputy was appointed to him in the Chatham by Lord Howe, who asks for him to be re-entered for his proper ship, the Lenox and to remain with Sir Peter Parker at Jamaica. Opine that as the proper Purser of the Chatham has appeared, we have no objection to Mr. Read's re-entry into the Lenox nor having leave of absence with Sir Peter Parker, till the Lenox is commissioned, but as she is being got ready for sea, ask whether his presence can be dispensed with, when she is in commission.
