Description
Content
Folio 175. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to the churchwardens and overseers of Tregony Parish, in response to their letter of 5 July 1841. They state their opinion that the deed of June 1822, extending the payment time of the workhouse building debt, was not legal. However they think the original charge in favour of Mr Kempe [Admiral Arthur Kempe] and now assigned to Mr Ball [Nicholas Ball], is valid. They quote legal precedent, referring to the case of K V Carpenter. Annotated: W G L [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. Paper Number: 6807/A/1841. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
