1 individual petition (Samuel Elyard, visiting magistrate) on behalf of Thomas Crayford, servant to the late Lord Coventry, convicted at Surrey Winter Assizes Kingston upon Thames in December 1831 for horse stealing. Grounds for clemency: first offence, previous good character, the prisoner was a reliable employee as a servant, his brother has been a gardener in the village for over 15 years, exemplary conduct while in prison, 'the best behaved prisoner I ever had under my charge' according to the governor, capable of being good member of society. Initial sentence: death commuted to life transportation. Gaoler's report: character good. Annotated: nil. KQ 10
