2 individual petitions (prisoner) and 1 collective petition (5 residents) on behalf of William Lupton, coach maker, convicted at the Old Bailey in February 1835 for forgery against Herries, Farquhar and Co, Bankers. Gaoler's report: character not known. Grounds for clemency: old age of 63 so would prefer to remain in this country, good conduct since transported to New South Wales nearly 8 years ago, strict government rations 'not a drink of beer even' are affecting his health, now 72 years old, another prisoner tried for forgery at same time as prisoner has obtained freedom, entitled to ticket of leave and if granted one for Sydney could practise his trade of coach maker where could be useful member of society. Initial sentence: life transportation. Annotated: nil on earlier petition and conditional pardon on later petition. AV 45
