1 individual petition (Duke of Newcastle) and 1 collective petition (12 inhabitants of Nottinghamshire with occupations) on behalf of William Day convicted at the Nottinghamshire Quarter Sessions at Retford in July 1834 for stealing wool. There is also an accompanying letter of request from the prisoner. Gaoler's report: character bad. Grounds for clemency: led astray by association with gang, more chance of rehabilitation if he remains on prison ship in this country. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: nil. AV 17
