2 individual petitions (Mary Mobbett, prisoner's mother and John Mobbett, prisoner's father) and accompanying letter from Mr Handley on behalf of Thomas Mobbett, bricklayer, convicted at the Lincolnshire Quarter Sessions at Sleaford in October 1833 for stealing 6 pigeons. Gaoler's report: character very bad, twice acquitted of felony. Grounds for clemency: fallen into bad company, penitent, parents destitute without son to support them, no reply received to previous petition signed by 42 [43] residents of Sleaford. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: nil. AV 5
