2 collective petitions (prisoners and 10 acquaintances) and accompanying letter from [Cyers Jay] on behalf of John Lane and Edward Morton convicted at the Kent Quarter Sessions at Maidstone in October 1834 for stealing hay from Benjamin Worthy Horne, coach proprietor of Charing Cross. Gaoler's report: character not known. Grounds for clemency: first offence, previous good character, young age of one prisoner, John Lane has wife and 2 children to support. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: nil. AV 4
