1 individual petition (prisoner) and 1 collective petition (26 inhabitants of Liverpool [Lancashire] with addresses and trades) on behalf of Henry Hopwood convicted at the Lancaster Lent Assizes in March 1834 for receiving stolen goods. Gaoler's report: 'supposed to be connected with gang of receivers'. Grounds for clemency: wife and 2 young children to support, previous honest and industrious character, young age, victim of police operation to convict main culprits. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation. Annotated: nil. AT 27
