3 collective petitions (James Farthing and Jane Farthing, convict's parents, 20 freemen of Worcester, and 15 inhabitants of Worcester including prosecutor and jury) on behalf of Henry Farthing convicted at the Worcester City Lent Assizes in March 1834 for stealing a silver watch, the property of Rowland Broadstock. There is a testimonial from Thomas Osborne and an accompanying letter from George R Robinson. Gaoler's report: character not known. Grounds for clemency: great distress of elderly parents, prisoner's youth (18 years old), first offence, previous good character, already spent 8 months in prison. Initial sentence: death commuted to 14 years transportation. Annotated: nil. AT 18
