1 individual petition (the prisoner) on behalf of David Newman convicted in November 1826 of a breach of the peace [court unspecified]. Initial sentence: £100 fine. Prisoner unable to pay the fine so has been in King's Bench Prison for a long time. Asks for the fine to be remitted. Letter from William Jones, Marshal of the King's Bench Prison advising that the prisoner is very troublesome and though he wants rid of him cannot see how mercy can be granted. Annotated: remission of fine recommended to Treasury. 8 August 1827. MM7
