Description

1 individual petition (Mary Major, the prisoner's mother) and 1 collective petition (8 signatories) on behalf of William Major convicted at the Old Bailey in September 1824 of stealing lead the property of Mr Jeffries, builder, of 15 North Street, Mile End Road. Grounds for clemency: 18 years of age. Contrite for his previous behaviour. Has been in the penitentiary at Mill Bank for 3 years. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: nil. MM2
