3 individual petitions (two from Elizabeth Garland, the prisoner's mother-in-law, and Mary Webber, the prisoner's wife) on behalf of James Webber convicted at the Old Bailey in July 1824 of stealing lead. Letter from Major General Sir Hubert Taylor forwarding petition to Home Office. Grounds for clemency: was offered the lead but refused it. Good hardworking son-in-law and husband. Principal support for his family. Initial sentence: 12 months' imprisonment. Annotated: Nil. MK10
