Description

1 collective petition (13 signatories) on behalf of Thomas Ward convicted at the Nottingham Spring Assizes 1824 of stealing a horse belonging to Edward Elliott of Nottingham. Grounds for clemency: young and inexperienced. 19 years of age. Never imprisoned before. Distraught parents who are honest and industrious. Initial sentence: death commuted to transportation for 14 years. Annotated: 'Refused.' MK5
